This website covers the full range of providing drinking water, from geological access, to treatment and distribution. It is based primarily on the history of water supply in Essex, but includes the wider world, based upon the experience of the author as a scientist specialising in water supply for 40 years and travels since. Apart from Essex, It also contains details of water supplies engineered by the Romans, and Gibraltar and Malaysia with which the Author was associated, and for example the mystery of the sexless procreation of chironomid midges living in water mains. Also the closure of the iconic rain water collection system on Gibraltar. Emphasis is placed on the history of water supply from Langford between 1927 and 1996, relating the transition from steam pumps to Electric, and primary use of Chlorine instead of lime as a purification agent. Numerous talks have been given over the last 20 years to a wide variety of organisations.
